IRS Mileage Reimbursement Rates
We follow the IRS's annual mileage rates, which are determined by an annual study of the fixed and variable costs associated with operating an automobile.
For 2026, the mileage reimbursement rates are:
- $0.725/mile for business (up 2.5 cents).
- $0.14/mile for charity (unchanged).
- $0.205/mile for medical/moving for qualified military and intelligence community members.
Additional Details for 2026:
- Basis reduction for depreciation: For those using the business standard mileage rate, the portion treated as depreciation is 35 cents per mile for 2026.
- Vehicle cost limits: For fixed and variable rate (FAVR) plans and certain employer-provided automobile valuation rules, the maximum fair market value of the vehicle cannot exceed $61,700.
